Fruit Smoothie Recipe With Nectarines - Perfect For Spring!
Nectarines are actually a type of peach that has a smoother skin. There is a myth that nectarines are the result of cross breeding between peaches and plums because of their redder skins but this is not the case. The redness of the nectarine’s skin lacks the fuzz found on peaches.
Just like Peaches, Nectarines can be yellow or white. They also tend to be a bit smaller than peaches and are sweeter. Some think the flavor of a nectarine is both heartier and smoother than that of a peach. Nectarines are a very good source of vitamin C and also Potassium.
Because they are so sweet, nectarines are a natural fit for many fruit smoothie recipes. When they become available in the stores this spring, pick up a few and try this smoothie mix either as a dessert or an afternoon snack.
Preparation work: peel and de-stone 3 nectarines.
Then mix in your food processer:
3 nectarines, peeled and de-stoned
1 cup of frozen banana chips
1 cup of low-fat vanilla frozen yogurt
Mix all the ingredients until you have a blend with the consistency you prefer. Serve in a chilled glass with a long spoon.
To super charge this recipe nutritionally, add a tablespoon of Mila chia seed. Because it is a raw food with no taste or smell, it will disappear into the smoothie mix but will still deliver a huge amount of omega-3 fatty acid along with other essential nutrients such as Iron, dietary fiber, Magnesium, and Selenium.
A delicious way to add so many of the nutrients we need for healthy living!
